The house edge is the single most important number in casino gaming, and most players never look at it. It tells you exactly how much of every peso you bet the casino expects to keep over time. A 5% house edge means that for every ₱100 you wager, the casino is mathematically designed to return ₱95 to players on average. The other ₱5 is the casino’s cut.

I built this calculator because I got tired of players asking me which game gives them the best chance. It always comes down to the same thing, the house edge. This tool gives you that number instantly so you can make informed decisions about where to put your money.

How to Use the House Edge Calculator

Select the casino game you want to check from the dropdown menu. For some games you can also select specific rule variations, for example, Blackjack rules vary between casinos and the house edge can shift significantly depending on whether the dealer hits or stands on soft 17, how many decks are used, and whether you can double after splitting.

Once you’ve made your selections, click Calculate. The tool returns the house edge as a percentage and an explanation of what that means in practical terms for a Filipino player betting in pesos.

What the Results Mean

A lower house edge is always better for the player. Here’s a rough guide to what the numbers mean:

Under 1%, excellent. Baccarat (Banker bet) and basic strategy Blackjack sit in this range. These are the best bets in the casino.
1% to 3%, good. Still reasonable value. Many table game bets fall here.
3% to 5%, average. Most slot games land in this range. Playable but the casino has a meaningful edge.
Above 5%, high. Think carefully before betting regularly on games in this range. Your bankroll will erode faster than you might expect.

The house edge doesn’t tell you what will happen in a single session, you can win big on a high-edge game or lose on a low-edge one. What it tells you is what happens over hundreds and thousands of bets. The longer you play, the more the house edge matters.

The house edge on every game, side by side

These are the figures the calculator runs on. Learn the top three and you will already be ahead of most players I meet.

Blackjack with basic strategy, 0.5%. The lowest edge of any common casino game. The catch is that almost nobody plays perfect basic strategy, and without it the real edge drifts closer to 2%. Learn the chart and the game changes.
Baccarat, Banker bet, 1.06%. One of the best bets available anywhere in a casino, and you do not need to learn anything to get it. Avoid the Tie bet, which carries a crushing 14.4%.
European Roulette, 2.7%. One zero. Always take European over American where you have the choice, because that single zero halves what the table takes.
Sic Bo, Small or Big, 2.78%. The safest bets on the table. The Triple and specific number bets run above 15%, so leave them alone.
Online slots, low volatility, around 3%. Higher RTP slots at 97% and above do exist. Check the paytable before you spin rather than after.
3-Card Poker, 3.37%. Good fun. Stick to the Ante and Play bets, because the Pair Plus side bet costs you more.
Dragon Tiger, 3.73%. Fast, which is the real problem. More rounds per hour means more exposure to the edge. The Tie bet here is a savage 32%.
Online slots, average, around 5%. Most run between 94% and 97% RTP and the spread is wide, so the average hides a lot.
American Roulette, 5.26%. Two zeros instead of one, which nearly doubles the edge against you. There is no reason to choose this table.

The pattern is worth saying out loud. The games that ask something of you, blackjack and baccarat, give you the best of it. The games that ask nothing take the most.

What that edge actually costs you, in pesos

A percentage does not mean much until you turn it into something you would otherwise buy. That is what the second half of the calculator does, and it is the part most players find uncomfortable.

Say you play online slots at an average 5% edge, betting ₱50 a spin, 200 spins in an evening. That is ₱10,000 wagered and an expected loss of ₱500. Not the money you lose on a bad night, the money the maths expects you to lose on an ordinary one.

This is what ₱500 is, away from the reels:

Run the same evening on blackjack at 0.5% instead and the expected loss is ₱50. One milk tea rather than a week of lunches. Same money through your hands, same hours of entertainment, ten times the difference in what it costs you.

Scale it up and it gets clearer still. A ₱1,200 expected loss is a month of an average electric bill. ₱5,000 is a month of state university tuition. None of that is meant to stop you playing. It is meant to make the number real, because 5% does not feel like anything and nine kilos of rice does.

Three things the house edge does not tell you

It is a long run figure, not a prediction for tonight. A 0.5% edge does not mean you lose half a per cent every session. You will have evenings where you are well up and evenings where the maths looks like a lie. The edge only shows itself across thousands of hands.
Speed multiplies it. Two games with the same edge are not equal if one deals three times as fast. Dragon Tiger and online slots hurt more than their percentages suggest, simply because of how many rounds you get through in an hour.
It says nothing about whether the casino will pay you. The best house edge in the world is worth nothing at a site that will not process a withdrawal. Licence first, edge second.

Why This Matters for Filipino Casino Players

Most online casinos available to Filipino players offer Baccarat, which has one of the lowest house edges of any casino game, around 1.06% on the Banker bet.
